The Atkins Nutritional Approach or commonly termed as Atkins Diet have been receiving mixed reviews since it was popularized by Dr. Robert Atkins itself in his 1998 book, Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution although the term was used as early as the 60's. In this video, the guy talks of how great the Atkins Diet is. The Atkins diet is known for its claims that obesity, one of the major cause of death in America, is due to eating refined carbohydrates, particularly sugar, flour, and high-fructose corn syrups. The Atkins Diet also rejected the food pyramid and instead suggest not to eat too much carbohydrate based foods so that instead of burning carbs, the body will burn fat.
Atkins Diet has four phases. Induction, ongoing weight loss, pre-maintenance and lifetime maintenance.
I will not discuss each and will not elaborate on them for now because I have to look and observed more about this process.
