Watermelon Diet

By Fit Bud at 06/10/08 06:29

Many have been trying to engage themselves in different forms of diet. Many have claimed that they really lose weight by their respective diet program. And one of them is the watermelon diet.

In case you don't know, watermelon is one of the earliest crop to have ever been planted by our ancestors. And watermelon have been of many used to them. Ancient civilizations have been using watermelon as their source of food especially when they go for long travels. Ancient Egyptians are said to be the first to grow them, and they primarily used watermelons during the war, because it's "heavy" for your stomach, but light in overall. Now you know what Cleopatra did to have Marc Anthony fall for him. Perhaps she undergone a watermelon diet, too!

Watermelon is the richest fruit to have lycopene, the red pigment of fruits and vegetables. Lycopene is one of the highest kind of antioxidant. These antioxidant is known prevent cancer and also slow skin aging. The fact that watermelon has lot of water in it is also obvious. Eating it is like drinking water too. Watermelons in general is said to be 50% water and 50% matter.

In addition to this, watermelon also contains vitamins including C, A,B6 and B1. Further studies shows that watermelon is the most effective fruit for losing weight, however, it is also one with the highest risk of being use improperly.

Because watermelons are so tasty, one will not be having a hard time eating it. For sure, a person can indulge with it for the whole day. But watermelons also have the element in it where it makes people get tired of its taste if eaten for long hours. So the risk of you leaving the watermelon diet is high. It is recommended that you only eat watermelon as a replacement for your dinner and not all the time.

It is also noted that a diet that consist only of one food is never healthy. Although watermelon itself is a stand alone food and contains enough nutrients, it doesn't have the other nutrients your body needs. Also, eating watermelons can increase of a person's risk to dehydration. It may have a lot of water in it, but it tend to induce a lot and you also excrete a lot of it. The water you got from watermelon is easily discharged through the urine, but the water from it also tend to discharge the other forms of liquid inside the body.

Moderation from eating watermelons is required. Next week I will be presenting you with more of watermelons and perhaps some recipe or a plan for it.
