Gain More Weight On Diet

By Fit Bud at 06/09/08 17:23

In the past few years, we have been presented with food products offering dieting effects. But not all of them who contains the diet word really helped in your diet, and to your goal of losing weight. In fact, they aid in gaining more weight for you.

Studies shows that drinking diet soda drinks such as Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi and others may lead in you gaining more weight instead of what it is trying to depict as a dieting beverage.

Experts say that even though beverage companies such as Pepsi and Coca-Cola do not directly tell people that their product is for dieting, they are actually fooling the people who thinks diet softdrinks are for diet purposes.

It is obvious that with putting the word DIET on their products, it gains a reputation of having weight-losing effect. They never said they are for dieting purposes, but they never denied it either. With that strategy, a non-committal, they are obviously winning.

Experts say that drinking regular soft drinks contribute to the probability that the person drinking it will become obese. However, they said that people drinking DIET soft drinks have higher probability of being obese.

The reason for this is that people think that they will lose weight when they drink diet sodas, so from their 1-2 bottles of regular soft drinks a day, they now consumed 3-5 diet sodas a day. And besides, the contents of these diet sodas that contribute to gaining weight is relatively higher than those who drink regular sodas.

This increase in the risk of obesity due to drinking diet sodas was monitored by University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. They did a research for 8 years and found this results.

For regular soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:

  • 26% for up to 1/2 can each day
  • 30.4% for 1/2 to one can each day
  • 32.8% for 1 to 2 cans each day
  • 47.2% for more than 2 cans each day.
For diet soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:
  • 36.5% for up to 1/2 can each day
  • 37.5% for 1/2 to one can each day
  • 54.5% for 1 to 2 cans each day
  • 57.1% for more than 2 cans each day.
For each can of diet soft drink consumed each day, a person's risk of obesity went up 41%.
