The Fitness Underground Interview

By Interviewer at 10/25/09 09:48

Name of your website?

The Fitness Underground

Your name?

Texas

Your Location (city, etc)

El Segundo

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Fitness TRaining and Lifestyle Management. A New and Innovative approach to Fitness and Well-Being - designed to ENHANCE AND ENRICH your Body, Awaken your Mind and Boast your Spirits as you reach your highest fitness goals.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Having been a personal trainer for 20 years, I’ve seen fads come and go… The simple truth is – you don’t need the latest diet or gadget (and there is no magic pill). I promote making healthy lifestyle changes that you can stick with. As a 39 year old mother of 2, I recognize the challenges of balancing work and family… keeping fit has been my saving grace. You CAN have children and still be in great shape! I get immense gratification in knowing that I make a difference in people's lives and inspire them to feel better about themselves.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My first website was launched in 2005. I was a full time yoga teacher & also held meditation workshops

How did you decide on a name for your website?

WE chose "The Fitness Underground" becasue it was creative and unique. People associate the word "underground" with "alternative." Thats what we offer...an alternative approach to fitness & well-being.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

Our experience for one...over 20 years in the fitness industry. We also offer free articles & tips for attaining not only a healthy body, but a healthy mind/spirit as well. A very holistic approach.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To continue growing our business. Holding workshops, seminars. Continuing to insire people.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Success is the quality of your journey...not the end result. We enjoy each day to its fullest.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

more advertising

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Hire additional staff. Too much business?...thats a GOOD problem!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

The economy. Rising costs, but decresing income. These are dificult times for everyone.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Reaching hte right clientelle.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Grass roots level. Word of mouth. Your reputation is your best ally.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's pretty much as I expected.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We put this site up this year. We'll keep it up indefinitely.

What do I hope people will get from visiting the site?

Information... and inspiration. I want people to feel good when they leave the site; like they've learned something. I want to be of value and of service.

What is your website address?

The Fitness Underground
