Diet Plan: Vegetarian Diet

By Fit Bud at 04/19/08 21:31
I asked my vegetarian friend to give me one of the diets that she usually take. And this is what she gave me.

Breakfast: Vegetarian bacon with toast, yogurt and fruit Lunch: Linguine Florentine with fruit and salad Dinner: Tofu and bean enchiladas with fruit and salad Snack: Cottage cheese with fruit cocktail

The plan is best for you if:

  • You prefer to exclude some or all animal products from your meal plan.
  • You want a meal plan tailored to your preferences while still maintaining convenience and flexibility.
  • You need guidance on how to eat a balanced vegetarian diet that includes adequate protein, vitamins and minerals.

The plan may not be good for you if:

  • You wish to cut down on animal products in your meal plan, but you do not like any soy products.
  • You want a lower-carbohydrate meal plan.

Food that may not be allowed:

  • animal products such as meat, milk, eggs, animal fabric: depending on your preference or your category of being vegetarian - vegan, lacto-ovo or others.

Diet Summary: The Vegetarian diet plan is designed for anyone who wants to reduce or eliminate animal products in their diet. This plan offers three options -- vegan (completely plant-based), lacto-vegetarian (allowing dairy) and lacto-ovo-vegetarian (allowing dairy and eggs). The Vegetarian meal plan will include high-fiber foods such as whole grains, whole-grain breads/cereals, legumes, soy foods, fruit and vegetables to provide a variety of options.

Supersize Me And The McDonald's Diet

By Fit Bud at 04/17/08 20:25
, any: Supersize Me

Almost four years ago, the whole world, rather the world of fast food eaters, was shocked when Morgan Spurlock's McDonald documentary was released.

The documentary shows how in the course of 30 days changed his shape, health, psychological balance and stuffs a like by just indulging in pure McDonald's diet. For 30 days, he dined at McDonald's three times a day eating everything on the menu at least once per day.

The film received a full spectrum response from the public. For some its a good point while for some its simply a waste of time. Before I give my views about it, mind you that this is my own perspective and view and do not reflect others preference and this site do not take part in any of my opinion regarding the matter.

For me, the whole documentary is nothing but a realization of a thing that really is not-existent. Its impossible for a person to do such a thing, eating three times day at McDonald''s, a month without an exercise, and super sizing all of his drinks. I am not against the film, but it speaks of fiction. Sure he can do that, but who else would. Although I agree that McDonald's, or any other fast food chain, do not serve the foods that our health requires.

But if you would look at it, given this body and this free will to choose, will you always super size your drinks whenever you are asked by the crew? Isn't there any diet Coke or something soda-less or sugar-less in the menu. Does it mean your stomach is stronger than your mind? If you are starting to feel dizzy, uncomfortable, unhealthy, why would you continue a diet like that of the McDonald's Diet?

We are always responsible for everything we do. We have the choice but we suffer the consequences of those choices. We exercise our freedom to choose whatever we want to do and eat, but in this world, there is no absolute freedom. Even freedom itself has its limitation. Eat, but exercise. Indulge, but detoxify. In any case, always think that "You eat to live, and you do not live to eat."

Diet Plan: Low Cholesterol Meal

By Dietician at 04/14/08 05:21
On a weekly basis, I am going to present you diet plans that might be helpful for dietary needs. I will be posting to whom or to whom not the diet plan is applicable, the effects, the foods that are not allowed for you to eat and also the risk of taking it. For our primer, the first diet plan I will be giving is a Low Cholesterol Dietary Meal.

The plan is best for you if:

  • You have high cholesterol concentration or your family has history of high cholesterol.
  • You want to reduce the risk of your heart disease.
  • You are okay with eating foods that are not cooked in oil and foods that are high in fats.

The plan is not best for you if:

  • You want fried foods and smaller frequent meals.
  • You're looking for a lower carbohydrate meal plan.

The plan's aim is to provide a balanced and flexible meal plan that lowers your intake of high cholesterol foods while increasing your intake of fiber-rich foods with the goal of lowering your cholesterol levels. You must avoid and keep yourself from oily, fatty foods while engaging in this diet plan.

The Cholesterol Lowering meal plan is a generally healthy meal plan. However, if the plan does not meet your eating standards or you prefer other diets because you do not want your eating habit to suffer, you might want to consult your dietitian of a medical personnel that knows about diets.

Always remember that eating comes with responsibility. If you know the consequences of eating that food, go on, but be responsible and do not take your health for granted. Dieting isn't an easy task.

Vegan Vs. Vegetarian

By Dietician at 04/13/08 09:56
Many people get the wrong impression on having vegan and vegetarian diets.

I met a few cases of this before on one of my websites where this particular person claims to be a vegan himself yet showing photos to the public eating eggs, dairy products and alike. Yes, you read them right, these foods are not allowed for the vegans.

Probably the main and most appropriate way of distinguishing the two is that vegetarian is the diet category while vegan just falls under it as a sub-category. If you are going to read stuffs about vegetarian diets, you would have probably notice terms such as "ovo-lacto vegetarian," and "semi-vegetarian" and "vegan". These are the under cards of a vegetarian diet.

While general vegetarians do not consume animal meat, this does not prevent them from consuming animal products such as milk and cheeses. However, the different sub categories ease in differences between each. Vegetarian is a blanket term used to describe a person who does not consume meat, poultry, fish, or seafood.

The term semi-vegetarian is usually used to describe someone who is a vegetarian who consumes dairy products, eggs, chicken, and fish, but does not consume other animal flesh.

Ovo-lacto vegetarians are vegetarians who do not consume meat, poultry, fish, and seafood, but do consume eggs and milk. This is the largest group of vegetarians.

Ovo-vegetarian is a term used to describe someone who would be a vegan if they did not consume eggs. Lacto-vegetarian is a term used to describe someone who would be a vegan if they did not consume milk.

Vegan is the strictest sub-category of vegetarians. Vegans do not consume any animal products or by-products. Some go as far as not even consuming honey and yeast. Others do not wear any clothing made from animal products.

As told before, surgery might help you lose weight if your condition is that severe that you couldn't fix it naturally anymore.

But what do you have to take note before, during, and after taking the surgery? What kind of surgery do you have to undergo for your condition? How much does it cost?

The answer to your queries might be found here in the Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forum. This may be a good source for not-so-technical information.

Childhood Obesity and Preventing It

By Dietician at 04/12/08 20:39
, Brasil: Helados Artesanales de Brasil
Admit it, when we were still kids, eating is our favorite past time. We eat while walking. We eat with just sitting on the train or on board a bus. We eat pass off our teachers inside our classrooms. Whenever we cry, our mommies will offer ice creams and candies and we'll stop crying. Right?

What now? Ok, look at your body. Is that the body you've been wanting since you were a kid? Do you see any Superman in your abs or even squared off with Batman's chest? If you do, then good for you. If not, don't be sad. These are just the after effects of what we've done in the past. And we don't want that to happened in our kids, right?

Childhood obesity is one of the greatest health problem across the globe. Particularly in America, obesity is a critical problem. So how do we exactly get into this line of big, bulky bodies? Poor diet and uncontrolled habits. Yes, with these two ruling our everyday, we are sure to fall with being obese.

Kids are the most prone to being obese. They eat a lot like theres no tomorrow. They eat foods that are not healthy for them at their age. While they enjoy their pork chops and fried chickens, these harmful cholesterols and fatty oils are starting to be absorbed by their young body and vulnerable muscles. And once these harmful foreign materials are stuck inside our body, it will be hard for us to take them off. Weeks of exercises, months of running and diets, and tons of diet pills.

But we can prevent it. As much as possible, on the best natural way we can. Let's start teaching our kids the way to proper diet and proper nutrition. Teach them to keep in their minds that eating is not just making yourself full. Eating, as a necessity for us humans, can make of break us. Being a responsible eater will get you to prevent obesity and start living a healthy life.
