I once again stumble a magazine article yesterday discussing about reasons why you have to watch your weight. It got my attention I know the author is not used to making such articles. The title of it was "More Than One Reason To Watch Your Weight" by Beth Day Romulo and published in Manila Bulletin's Sunday Panorama Magazine. The author recall many years ago about a pamphlet that is very popular in the United States about gaining the healthy weight and living a healthy life. The pamphlet's title was "The New American Plate; Meals for a Healthy Weight and a Healthy Life". I was a bit shock when I learn that this pamphlet is actually proposing recipes that not are for short-term use. It is suggesting recipes that will become part of your regular day, a recipe that will be eaten on a regular basis, food that will be part of your "way of life". When I was still a kid, I used to run a lot. I will roam around the house as if there's no tomorrow. You can never make me sit for a straight hour without doing anything. I do that every morning and the result, I sleep like a log at night. I feel so exhausted after each day's activities. I am one active kid. And Until now, I am still as active as what I used to. But thanks to my mom, she kept me healthy. She would give me set of foods that I though at first was just normal. But lately she told me she was giving me those because I am actively different from other kids. I have been training with a gym operated by the hospital I regularly checked up for a couple of weeks now. And so far, from 239 lbs, I have already lose more than 10 lbs. When I last weighed in, I'm just 226 lbs. A great improvement for a short time. I consider one of the reasons why I easily lose weight is because I have an instructor that really knows how to do things properly. He is a licensed fitness instructor and a professional health professor as well. He really knows the reason why I have to do certain exercises and he usually tells the cause and effect of everything I do. Really fantastic. My friend recently asked me to share my personal experiences about dieting on this site. So here I am, voicing out to the world how I am coping with my current life as an obese.I am just 22 year old and turning 23 in a few more months. I stand at 5'7" but already weighs 239 lbs. When I was younger I was not this big, although the fat line can be traced from my fore fathers. I have accepted that it is our fate to be fat, until I met a new friend who happens to have the same story with me, but finding an evidence that he used to be fat is hard. He's very slim and athletic. From then on, my view about my body changed. I can change. When I was still a kid, my father as a doctor all of us to get our monthly weight and height. He is always strict when it comes to health issues. Whenever he noticed us losing weight, he would always give us give us vitamins or asked our mother to cook healthier foods. That only stopped when I entered the sixth grade. It was in 1998 that the government issued a new way of determining whether the person is underweight, overweight, obese or just normal. Before, the only way you can say a person is in any of the said weight category is by determining the gender, the age, height and weight of a person. They used a table where desirable weight and height for a particular age is written. The new method, however, do thing differently. I was with a friend accompanying him in his diet for almost two weeks now. He asked me to help him monitor his health and aid in his diet programs. He is really determined to cut those fats down. My friend used to be a person who always shout, easily irritated and gets angry at the smallest thing he finds not good. I learned how to cope with that though it was really hard dealing with him at most times. So when he asked me to help him in his diet, I was like, "Is this for real?". And I agreed without hesitations. It's not everyday that he asked for my help. I recently told you that I enrolled in a gym program with my friend. I'm now having doubts about the capability of the said gym to give good advise and proper programs including a healthy diet. I asked the instructor why do I need to eat in order for me to have a normal metabolic activity since I'm have low level of Von Gierke's disease or a metabolic disorder, and that also leads me to have the tendency of going hypoglycemic. Though I have the tendency to have super low level of blood sugar, that somehow is regulated by the genes I inherited from my parents, which is being diabetic. In the process, my tendency of being hypoglycemic is fighting with the diabetic genes, making me on the middle. Read more: Bread For Diet? No Thanks.
