Please give us a short summary of your website?
My site is dedicated to all aspects of Kettlebell training. Kettlebells are an intense fitness tool excellent for helping improve cardiovascular health, improving strength, and weight loss. I provide techniques, routines and workouts for both beginner and advanced.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I stumbled across kettlebells online, ordered them and was amazed at the progress I made using them as an exercise routine.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This was it, over 4 years ago.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I tried to pick a name that would encompass all aspects of working out with a kettlebell, and "Kettlebell Training" seemed to fit.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
It is one of the first sites offering information for kettlebells and points to answers on a popular forum, giving a wide variety of answers from experts.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I suppose eventually I might sell it, but for now I just let it run.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Fairly well - there is not much upkeep involved in the site.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would probably completely redesign it to make it more "Web 2.0" and make it easier to update.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
If it got that big, yes, I would make/find the time to keep up.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Fluctuating income from the site and managing the advertising for it.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Staying high in search engines for my target search terms.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Writing articles.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I've been running sites for a long time so it hasn't had any surprises.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I've run it for over four years and at the moment plan on keeping it running indefinitely (or as long as it shows a profit).
Do you use kettlebells yourself?
Yes, I do. :-) I created the site because I was so impressed with them. They give a killer workout - surprisingly so.
