When did you start your website and why?
I started replaceameal.com to take advantage of a opportunity in the marketplace. ITV sells quality life improving products and starting a website to sell Rice and Shine is a great way to market products, using the power of television advertising.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
I make websites for most ITV products. Often, people look into a product they might buy from one of these infomercials before they actually make a purchase and when they do look using a search engine, I try to get my site listed high enough and with some good information to help them make the purchase.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
By far, getting links to your site, that are of the right type and with the high page rank is the most difficult task of being a webmaster. Liks to your site are verty important and the more the better, but if they are not of the right type, they are meaningless.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
The simplest function of being a webmaster is processing sales. It is such a pleasurable experience to put money in your bank account from people buying your product, that it makes it an effortless and enjoyable part of running a website.
What was your biggest mistake?
My biggest mistake is concentration and thinking smart. I do allot of work, but sometimes it is not very worth while and you get this falce sence of accomplishment. Sure you kep bust, but was it worth the effort, or could you have spent that time on something more pressing or more relavant to the business that will effect the bottom line more quickly.
Who maintains your website and why?
Right now I maintain all control over Rice and Shine. I am just starting to outsource link building, because I do not have the time to do all that tedeous work. Also, the control aspect of all things appearing on the web site is easier to watch if I am handling it myself.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
My sales come directly from internet marketing. I try very hard to make my most precious search terms rank high in the search engines for long and short tail terms. the higher, the better.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
Right now, the little guy has a chance, because it is still the wild wild west in here, but as soon a big business catches on, they will begin to dominate most of the product space at the top of the search engines, because they will have the marketing budget to pay the cost of SEO.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
SEO works. It has made my sites what they are today. I am able to make a living so far in just over 1 year of effort in internet marketing. I have not made it and am really just getting by, but the more I learn, the more money I make and what I have leared is definetly helping. But there is allot of crap advice on SEO out there. you have to test test test to see what actually does work.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
By business comes moslty from people searching the internet using the search engines. I would say for me, they are the most important part of the game. If you can rank highly, you can mae some very very good money on the internet for many products.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
SEO. getting the most important search terms related to my web site ranked well in google, msn, yahoo and a few others. Google mostly. You must look at long tail search terms also, there is big money there also.
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
Paying people to submit my web site to search engines. That does absolutly nothing for your search engines. Also hiring people to do SEO for you. most people have no idea what they are doing.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
More people buying throught the internet. Obivously That would mean that internet security and fraud protection are paramount. Fraud Protection.
